BootMath

BootMath
One of the prerequisites for admission to the Data Science programme is that you have suitable qualifications in mathematics, and all your teaching in data science will generally assume that you are comfortable with high-school level mathematics. If for some reason, high-school mathematics currently feels very distant in your mind or you are not familiar with English terminology for mathematical concepts, it can be a good idea to revise a bit before starting your studies.

As suggested in the greetings from your head of programme, you can flick through these math notes on various high-school level mathematics (skip the section on differential equations).

BootMath: An optional brush-up workshop on mathematics
BootMath is an informal workshop held before the semester begins, and you are welcome to attend. The aim is to help students across various ITU programmes to brush up on mathematics from high school. Participation in BootMath is entirely optional.

The workshop is expected to cover basic laws of arithmetic operations (including logarithms and exponentiation), simplifying arithmetic expressions, and solving equations. If you are unsure whether this workshop is for you, have a look at this exercise sheet. If you can solve these exercises using only pen and paper (perhaps with the help of these notes, you will likely not benefit much from the workshop, but you are still more than welcome to join.

Should I bring anything?
Please bring pen and paper.
