You register for elective courses and projects yourself

You must register for projects (including your bachelor project and thesis), electives and Summer University courses yourself. If you are studying according to a special study plan, you must register for the mandatory courses as well.

Cancel a registration for a mandatory course

You can only cancel an administrative registration if you want to exchange it for a mandatory course that you have not passed on a previous semester. In this case, you must write an email to Student Affairs and Programmes and state which course you want to cancel and which one you want to register for.

The deadline is Sunday in week 6 and 36 for spring and autumn semesters respectively. You must meet the Registration requirement at all times.

Elective courses

Your registration for courses is only a wish. After the registration deadline, Student Affairs and Programmes allocates course seats, and approximately two weeks after the registration deadline, you can see the result of the seat allocation in My Study Activities.

How to register

You register in My Study Activities.

First and second priorities
The number of courses that you give first priority indicates the number of courses you want to register for, therefore if you need to register for two courses, you should give both courses first priority.

Your choice of second priority course will only be taken into consideration, if you are not awarded a seat in the course(s) that you have given first priority.

During the period for changing registrations in the beginning of the semester, you cannot prioritise registrations.

Please be aware
If your registration is rejected by the system (afvist, ingen plads, osv.), the registration team will look into it and send you an email if any action is necessary on your part. Often the team will be able to simply fix the registration, but remember to keep an eye on your email during the registration period.

You do not need to notify SAP!

What courses can you sign up for?

In each registration period, you can see a list of the courses available for your registration on the registration form in My Study Activities.

Remember to check if the courses you sign up for are scheduled to run at the same time. In the weeks up until the registration opens, a list of approved courses will be shared for each programme with the courses available to choose from.

Please be aware
If you are choosing electives approved for you, but from a different study programme, the course can require specific knowledge you might not have.

The courses facilitated by your own Study Programme should fit in with your acquired knowledge and skills, but do remember to check up on the prerequisites.

Also note that:

  • Some courses have overlapping content, to the extent that you are only allowed to take one of them.
  • The course manager may expect that students have certain academic qualifications from the onset of the course.
You can see these requirements under "Formal prerequisites" in the course description in the course base.

You are responsible for ensuring that you meet the prerequisites for a course.

Summer University or Summer Courses outside of ITU

Remember that you have the possibility to take courses during the summer either through Summer University at ITU or Summer courses outside ITU. For courses outside of ITU instead of registering you need to apply for a pre-approval in advance.

Projects and Thesis

You register for a project in My Study Activities similar to registering for courses. This includes bachelor projects and master theses.

Please note, when you register for the project, you will be asked to provide,

  1. the (working) title of your project
  2. the language in which you write your project (Danish or English), and
  3. the name of your supervisor (if known).

Do you have a supervisor?
You are responsible for finding a supervisor, however, some programmes have processes to help you find supervisors for bachelor projects and master theses. See for information on finding a supervisor.

If you don’t have a supervisor upon registration, please email sap@itu.dk with the name as soon as you have found one.

For more information about the process and requirements for writing a project or thesis, please see Process for writing projects and theses

How to register

Project codes
When you register you choose between different project codes. Each code represents a different project.
If you have not registered for a project before you just choose number 1. If writing a second project, you then choose another project code.

If you need more attempts concerning a project you have already registered for once, Student Affairs & Programmes will need to handle the registration for you. You then write to sap@itu.dk about the registration.

Group projects
If you are registering for a group project, only one member of the group has to make the registration and then add the other group member(s) before finalising the registration.
The added group members will receive an invitation for the project and it is important that they remember to accept this invitation.

Project page and problem statement
Your registration for a project generates a project page in LearnIT. This is where you submit your problem statement and where your supervisor will be added. The project page is also where you later submit the final project.

Read more about the preliminary problem statement here

FAQ

No. Registration for an exam requires that you register for the course in the registration period. This also means that have to submit mandatory assignments again, and that your exam will be based on the newest curriculum for the course, if the course has changed.

Contact the course manager for the possibility of re-submitting the mandatory assignments from when you attended the course the first time. If the course hasn't changed this could be a possibility.

1. If, due to cancelled attempts, your "first" exam attempt was in the re-exam period, you must register for the course again in the registration period

2. If your second exam attempt was in the re-exam period, you must register for the course again in the registration period.

3. If your second exam attempt was at the ordinary exam in December/January or May/June, you must register for your third attempt in the re-exam period by sending an email to sap@itu.dk no later than on the 2nd Wednesday of respectively February or July.*

*If your grades are released after the above deadline and you discover that you need to register for your third attempt in the re-exam period, please contact sap@itu.dk within 3 days of the grade announcement.

When a course is no longer offered
Then in most cases a replacement course is chosen and you must take this instead.
You will be able to register for this course by yourself.

In very rare cases, no replacement course exists
As a rule, you will then get the opportunity to complete the course in the first-coming exam period after the course has been cancelled.
However, this may vary from course to course and under certain circumstances, other timeframes may also apply.

SAP will contact you and inform you about the practicalities.

You will get an email from Student Affairs and Programmes telling you how to proceed.

Yes, you can. For this you need a pre-approval of credit transfer from the IT University. Apart from this, you have to follow the admission guidelines for guest students at the specific university.
