Generative Artificial Intelligence

How to benefit from generative Artificial Intelligence

ITU acknowledges that generative AI-tools will dominate workplaces of the future, so we continuously adapt to the changes and needs of society and businesses. On this page, you will find inspiration for how to use and how not to use generative AI in your studies.

The overall ITU guidelines for generative Artificial Intelligence are continuously discussed, so please stay updated on any revisions made to the guidelines. You can find the Generative AI guidelines below and we recommend you familiarize yourself with these.

As a further supplement we have made a "best practice for students" as an easy access to navigate these overall guidelines.

Introducing MS Copilot
As a work tool Microsoft offers it's own AI Chatbot called MS Copilot and we have looked into that resource trying to help navigate this expanding field. Go to the bottom of this page, to check out how you can use MS Copilot for your studies.

MS Copilot works like any other AI Chatbot, but offers a more secure use, since it comes with 'Enterprise data protection' acquired through your ITU credentials.

It basically means that that all the data you type in stays within the ITU license for Microsoft 365, making it more secure to use.
That being said, you should NOT use it for personal, sensitive, or confidential information.

Access the MS Copilot here: https://copilot.itu.dk/

ITU guidelines when using generative AI

In this document, you will find the official guidelines for using generative AI at ITU. As a student, you must always comply with these requirements.
Failure to do so might be considered cheating. Please read them carefully before using generative AI.

See "Best practices for Students" for a quick overview of how to navigate the use of GAI and learn by heart the 6 keypoints extracted from the overall Guidelines.

Keep these 6 key points in mind

1. Follow academic conduct when using generative AI

2. Confirm AI use is permitted for your course or exam

3. Always reference the AI tool, how you used it, and how it influenced your work

4. Respect privacy and copyright

5. Be mindful of the data you share

6. Ask when unsure
