Thorsen is a researcher and consultant who critically engages with discriminatory and oppressive structures that impact organizations, products,
and teams. Tess will be giving a talk that engages with the responsibility of public institutions in relation to the rights of individuals within these settings, as well as present an overview of common issues and challenges in diversity work. After the talk there will be a Q&A with Tess Skadegård Thorsen and a possibility to collectively discuss and digest the take-aways.

This event is hosted by a self-organized group of employees and students at ITU, who seek to broaden conversations around equality and diversity in the institution. Often, such issues are discussed in relation to gender, which risks leaving out important intersectional perspectives. Factors such as gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality and ability never stand alone, but affect each other and create privileges and oppressions. With this event, our goal is not to provide how-to’s of diversity, but to organize a collective effort to build solutions and provide space and time for people with a desire to share their thoughts or experiences with discrimination.

The event is open for all employees and students at the IT University of Copenhagen.
