Community-centered participatory green initiatives, from clean-up actions to tree planting, fundamentally rely on residents' motivation to invest their time and energy in the initiative. Therefore, understanding - and enhancing - local incentives is deeply desired, but poorly investigated for concrete action. We co-develop an analytic framework consisting of categories and indicators, and we explore and put in action local incentives tied to an upcoming urban ecological rehabilitation project in Tshwane, South Africa. In this talk, I ask you to take community perspectives and invite for a discussion on the (digital) challenges and opportunities in our study context.

On October 20th, we’re visited by Maya Pasgaard, Assistant Professor and undisciplined researcher at Aarhus University. She will host a workshop titled What motivates local involvement in green initiatives? Assessing incentives and taking action in ecological rehabilitation in Tshwane, South Africa.
