“Algoma may be the smallest university in Ontario, but that doesn’t stop us from offering an education that’s big on personal attention. We are so proud of our size, we make a big deal out of it whenever we can.” (Algoma University)
The beautiful campus is situated at the heart of the Great Lakes, across the St. Mary’s River from the USA, at the geographic centre of North America. Established in 1964, Algoma University has been offering undergraduate studies to students for almost 50 years.
About the area
The location is an ideal opportunity for outdoor sports in the surrounding areas. “Sault Ste Marie quietly governs the narrow rapids between Lake Huron and Lake Superior. Perched along the last 'steps' of the St Lawrence Seaway, this placid city is the unofficial gateway to the far-flung regions of western Ontario. Although the area is dominated by a veritable who's who of corporate franchises, the downtown area along the water has remained a quaint checkerboard of mom-and-pop shops.” (Lonely Planet)
