BootMath

What is BootMath?
BootMath is an informal workshop held before the semester begins. The aim of this workshop is to brush up on some of the high school mathematics that you will need in the course of your studies. Participation in BootMath is optional.

Who will benefit from participating?

The Software Design study programme requires quite a bit of mathematics and logical thinking. If you feel uneasy about mathematics or it has been many years since you have solved an equation, this workshop might benefit you in getting started in the first semester. During the course of the workshop, we cover the laws of arithmetic operations (including logarithms and exponentiation), simplifying arithmetic expressions, and solving equations.

If you are unsure whether this workshop is for you, take a look at this exercise sheet. If you can solve these exercises without problems using only pen and paper (perhaps with the help of these notes), you are still free to join, but you will likely not benefit much from this workshop.

Should I bring anything?
Please bring your laptop as well as pen and paper.

What if I cannot participate?
BootMath is an offer which some of you will benefit from. However, everything that is taught in BootMath will also be addressed during your first semester albeit at a faster pace.
