Welcome from your Programme

June 2020

Dear new Games students,

Welcome to the Master of Science in Games Programme at the IT University of Copenhagen. Welcome to a place where you will learn, play, experiment, fool around, work, find friends, grow, and explore the world of games and beyond.

You and your colleagues from all over the world come here to study games. You come from a wide array of backgrounds and bring a dazzling variety of skills with you. You are resourceful, daring, and constantly surprising us, your teachers, with new ideas. You are here because you want to become an excellent game developer, designer, researcher, games programmer, or maybe some other kind of games professional. And we are here to support you in this quest.

Our goal is that you become a better game maker through the time you spend with us. We provide lectures and seminars in a wide variety of topics. We invite local and international developers and researchers to provide state-of-the-art insights into games. We provide you with tools and a safe space for experimenting, for trying and failing, for growing. You will work in groups with your highly talented colleagues to understand, design and develop games and game technologies and you will work on your own to develop your academic, personal, and professional skills.

Last but not least this region of Europe offers great social life and a strong game making tradition and community. From game jams to conferences and from companies to game collectives, the region is full of exciting events and opportunities. Beyond that, the place you have come to offers a rich cultural life, colorful history and outstanding work-life balance. I invite you to become a part of the life around you in this wonderful region of the planet.
