Head tutor for BSc

Are you passionate about creating a great and inclusive study start for our new BSc students?

Then maybe you are the Head Tutor we are looking for.

The aim of the study start is to ensure that all new students feel welcome during their first time at the university. Having a good experience at the beginning of the study plays a very important part in completing a BSc programme.

As a Head Tutor you will have an important and priceless role in the making of our study start – so without you we would not be able to continue having so fullhearted ambitions.

Sharpen your Skills

During your time as a Head Tutor, you will sharpen your skills within the following areas - which are relevant to both your current student life and later work life:

  • Leadership Skills and Team Management:
How to lead, motivate and inspire others towards a common goal.
  • Project Management:
Creating an innovative and including work environment, that ensures the development and learning outcomes for others.
  • Process Management:
Planning, managing and designing the study start, so it is in line with ITU´s visions e.g. about diversity and inclusion.

You can obtain a reference from ITU afterwards.

  • Communication skills:
Awareness of own communicative positions and how to use this as a dialogue-creating tool to ensure appreciative- and conflict-reducing interactions.
  • Psychological aspects:
Working with motivation, well-being and sense of belonging to ITU.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for six Head Tutors that will work with different areas of the study start, e.g.:

  • Academic activities during the intro week.
  • Social activities during the intro week.
  • Freshers’ Festival. A day with activities for the new students.

As a Head Tutor you must be able to take the lead in creating a great study start for the new BSc students with your fellow Head Tutors and with support from the Study and Career Guidance at ITU. You will be a banner bearer for ITU´s unique study environment and an important role model for new BSc students.

Therefore it is important that the Head Tutors are open-minded to all our new BSc students and let everyone participate in their own way and tempo.

You must also:

  • Thrive in a leadership role and be able to keep the focus on our main goal – the new students.
  •  Be highly aware of your responsibilities and the expected quality of your work.
  • Have a solution-oriented mindset – and ready to cooperate with the Study & Career Guidance, the Head Tutor team as well as the Tutor team.
  • Be capable of setting boundaries for yourself and those around you.
  • Have an empathic mindset towards our new students.

Your task as a Head Tutor is also to:

  • Plan the study start - which contains academic, practical and social elements.
  • Hire tutors in cooperation with the Study & Career Guidance. The position as Tutor is volunteer.
  • Coordinate the tasks in the study start and be the link between the tutors, the Study & Career Guidance and other collaborators.
  • Lead and motivate the tutors to be dedicated and serious about the study start.
  • Secure a good work environment and beneficial cooperation between the tutors.

Help create an inclusive study start for all

Your application to the position as a Head Tutor is equally valuable whether you have been part of planning the study start before or not.

The most important part of being a Head Tutor is that you contribute and support an inclusive study start for all new students and make it possible for everyone to feel welcome in their new study environment.

As a Head Tutor, you have both the responsibility and freedom to define the content of the study start within the given framework set by ITU and the Study & Career Guidance.

The position as Head Tutor is partly paid and partly volunteer.

For your work, you will get paid 13 hours each moth from February to September (219,74 DKK pr. hour – SUL-agreement).
