Academic vs. Vocational education

Depending on their type of background, students will have diverse experiences and skills. Being an academic is not just about gaining knowledge about a subject area, but also about working with it in a certain way.

Watch the video below, where Gitte Stald, associate professor, articulates some of the the differences between a profession-oriented education and an academic one.

For example, she explains how a Master of Science programme is not directed towards a specific profession but, rather, makes students able to see bigger and more abstract connections between aspects of a problem.
