CCIT Seminar with Kari Nørgaard on Climate Denial & culture

CCIT Seminar with Kari Nørgaard on Climate Denial & culture

The talk is titled “Climate Denial and Beyond: Learning from Cultures of Climate Responsibility” and explores the concept of ‘climate denial’, or how privileged people collectively resist integrating information about climate change into daily life due to a desire to avoid thinking about this highly disturbing topic. At the same time, Indigenous peoples have been on the forefront of climate engagement across the board from social movements to legal action, policy frameworks and more. Are there aspects of Indigenous engagement that hold broader teachings on climate mobilization? Join us to discuss the role of culture, and specifically how culture can mobilize and inhibit climate engagement.
