ITU Labs

At ITU, we have awesome labs that you are free to use as a student.

In the labs, you can do experiments, build prototypes, get help realizing your projects, get help to connect with industry, attend extracurricular activities and meet like-minded students and faculty.

The Air Lab explores affective designs for living with digital technologies, and how such affective interactions can change our relations to the world, each other and ourselves.

AIR lab supports bachelor projects, master thesis projects, and research projects. These projects can develop prototypes, set up tests, borrow equipment, and get support for prototyping and working with our equipment and technical infrastructures.

BUILD, the data innovation lab, seeks to provide an environment for students, industry, and researchers, where innovation can be driven by data learnings in both the qualitative and quantitative sense.

BUILD Lab supports scoping and finding the appropriate case for a: course, bachelor and master thesis, or research project. By getting in touch, you can get access to the network of cases and a variety of data with the purpose of finding one that is suitable for your project.

The brAIn lab is an interdisciplinary hub connecting artificial intelligence, human cognition, and behavioural studies, with the central aim of pioneering brain- and cognition-inspired AI while advancing the understanding of the brain through AI methods and bio-signals such as EEG, eye tracking, and heart rate data.

Structured as both a physical and academic environment, the lab supports research, data collection, experimentation, and prototyping across areas including machine learning, psychophysiology, neuroscience, developmental psychology, user modelling, games, and usability.

Students engage in hands-on work throughout, from running experiments and analysing psychophysiological data to designing AI-driven interactions and modelling human learning and cognition. Opportunities also extend to thesis projects on topics such as cognitive load, neurodiversity, emotion recognition, AI-assisted development, and human-centred design.

At the DASYA Lab (Data-Intensive Systems and Applications) Lab, we build the infrastructure of data science. Our focus is on scalable and efficient systems supporting the data lifecycle, including collection, transfer, storage, processing, analytics and curation.

Here, you will find support and resources from arduino to android, from raspberry to regular expressions, from UI to IoT, from 3D printing to data portals, from soldering to sensors to smart things to servers.

ETHOS Lab is a collective space for creative methods, critical computing, and feminist inquiry at IT University of Copenhagen.

We work at the intersections of science and technology studies, design research, arts-based methods, and ethnography.

Across the academic year, the ITU Lab hosts workshops, coding clubs, and public talks, as well as the opportunity for students to join the lab as Junior Researchers. We are also the home of ITU’s only physical library! Come by during our open hours to hear more about how to get involved and the resources we offer.

The Game Lab is a space for exploring playful ideas. Whether you want to work on a VR game, run a machine learning experiment or test a multiplayer toy on the big screen, this room offers equipment to work on your games and playful experiences.

Each semester, the Game Lab hosts a number of workshops and talks and it is also home of the Demo Night, a bi-monthly event where students as well as industry guests show and discuss unfinished projects.

At IxD Lab, we focus on physical interaction design, material exploration and modern fabrication technologies.

We support courses that demand tools such as 3D printing, laser cutting, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and we have a stock of sensors and actuators. In addition, we offer training and guidance in technical aspects of rapid prototyping and material choice, and occasionally we host talks about interaction design.

The Robotics, Evolution and Artificial Life (REAL) Lab hosts projects involving robotics, bio-inspired artificial intelligence, art and mechatronics.

We have resources to build prototypes and robots: an industrial robotic arm (UR5), 8 small wheeled robots (Thymio), and 2 liquid handling robots. We can also provide access to computer clusters and high performance GPUs.
