The University of Eastern Finland (UEF) is with its 15.500 students, one of the largest universities in Finland. Within the four faculties: the Philosophical Faculty, the Faculty of Science and Forestry, the Faculty of Health Sciences, and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business, UEF offers teaching in more than 100 major subjects.
UEF offers a variety of courses in English at both of their two campuses in Joensuu and Kuopio. As a student you can only choose courses from one campus, because the distance between the campuses is 150 kilometres. However, many courses are video transmitted from one campus to the other. Most exchange students choose Joensuu campus, because it is a bit bigger than Kuopio.
Joensuu Campus
The Joensuu Campus is located right by the city centre and is home to nearly 8,000 students. So be prepared for a lively atmosphere and in the compact campus area. Close by you will find Joensuu Science Park, which hosts some of the university's teaching facilities, as a natural platform for science, technology and business to meet.
Kuopio Campus
The Kuopio Campus is located a short walk away from the city center, and Kuopio University Hospital is also located right next to the campus area. The Kuopio Campus is home to nearly 7,000 students. With its 112,000 inhabitants, Kuopio is the largest city in eastern Finland and the ninth largest city in the country. Kuopio is a dynamic city surrounded by beautiful nature. Although modern and constantly evolving, it hasn't forgotten its roots. For those hungry for culture, Kuopio has a lot to offer.
