Dear new MSc DS student,
I would like to extend you my warmest welcome to the Data Science Master's programme at the IT University of Copenhagen! You are a member of a diverse group of highly selected students who will share with you an exciting journey of exploration and learning in the coming two years.
Data Science is an integral part of the productive ecosystem of our civilizations, and it is becoming a key component for tackling pressing societal challenges through the quantitative understanding of complex collective phenomena. Today more than ever, a master-level education in Data Science is a formidable tool to dominate the rapid advancement of information technologies and to tackle the increasing complexity of the problems that the both the private and public sectors are facing. The Data Science Master's programme is designed to prepare you for your future career in such a challenging scenario.
All the members of staff will work with me to guide you through research-based learning activities, to create an engaging environment, and to support you so that none of you will be left behind.
I look forward to meeting you in person during the Introduction Day, which will start getting you acquainted with the programme, the key staff members, the building, and your fellow students.
