Audio recordings of teaching activities at ITU

Are you allowed to record teaching activities at ITU?
As a general rule, teaching at ITU may not be recorded. Teaching content and materials belong to the teacher.

If you have a documented disability and recording your teaching activities is necessary for you to participate in teaching on equal terms with other students, the above general rule might be overturned.

You need to apply for permission
If you have received a dictaphone or you are applying for one via STUK you still need permission to record the teaching activities you are following at ITU.

Read further below for info on how to get started.

Permission to record is granted only when:

  • The disability has been formally documented and recognised by Student Affairs and Programmes (SAP) and
    by the Danish Agency for Education and Quality (STUK);
  • The need for audio recording is approved as part of your Special Educational Support (SPS);
  • You have the declaration signed by you, your teacher, and your SPS-advisor at ITU.

What do I need to do?

Contact an SPS advisor at sps@itu.dk.

The SPS-team assesses your request and, if approved, issues documentation confirming your right to make audio recordings.

Present the declaration to your teachers before recording.

The recording device must be applied for and granted by STUK as part of your SPS support.

ITU does not provide recording equipment.

Important rules to know

Only audio recording is allowed
Recordings may be used only for your own learning.
Recordings must not be shared with others or used for any other purpose.
Recordings must be stored securely and deleted when no longer needed, and no later than after the course ends (after passing the exam).
You must comply with ITU’s GDPR guidelines when handling and storing recordings containing personal data.
You will be asked to sign a declaration confirming that you follow these rules.
