We have compiled a selection of frequently asked questions that arise when students are faced with the lockdown browser.

The lockdown browser is a service within WISEflow that is used in written exams with no aids.

It ensures that you cannot access any other material than the exam assignment and any permitted external resources during the entire exam.

FLOWlock is a special type of flow in WISEflow, which is tailored to on-site examinations with limited or no aids permitted.

A FLOWlock exam takes place entirely in a designated lockdown browser, where you will get access to a built-in text editor which limits your access to all other than the allowed programmes on your computer while the flow is active.

In some FLOWlock exams, you will be permitted to access e.g. your own notes and selected websites. In WISEflow, these are referred to as "external ressources".

Select ‘Permitted internet resources’ if located in you exam flow. Select e.g. View PDF notes.

Select the folder icon to access PDF notes on your computer. The notes will open in new tabs next to your paper. There is a maximum of 10 open tabs at a time.
Alternatively, you may select a "whitelisted" webpage, in this example ordbogen.com.

To download the Lockdown browser you need to access WISEflow.

In the upper right corner, click on the arrow next to your name and choose “Edit profile”

Under “User Profile” go to WISEflow Lockdown browser and press download.

Please note
The first Download option is for the Lockdown browser, if you scroll down you find the download option for the Device Monitor.

See this User Guide for all the details.

Before the exam, you can test the various FLOWlock elements in a demo flow, which you access from the bottom of your flow overview.

If you are required to use the Lockdown Browser for a written exam on premises, and you are using Linux, then you need to use specific versions of Ubuntu.
Read here for the details

While we do not recommend using other versions of Ubuntu than described via the link above, it is still allowed. If your system passes the compatibility check at startup, the monitor should function as expected, however it is at your own risk as it might not run as expected during your exam.

Select Start the flow in due time before the exam starts.

A system countdown is displayed and when it ends the exam starts.

Type the participation password published by the invigilators.
Select Enter to get access to the assignment and to write your paper.

You may open the assignment in at new tab next to your paper. Select Open in a new tab.

Use of a screen reader requires opening of the assignment in a new tab.
Select the text box ‘Write your paper here!’

In FLOWlock exams, you will get access to a text editor in WISEflow.

The interface is similar to other text editors where you can choose headings, font sizes and insert tables or bullet lists. If allowed on your flow, you may shift between the listed spell-checkers.

If the internet connection is disrupted during a FLOWlock-exam, a red bar and a pop up-guide will appear on your screen.

A new tab Download paper will appear, and you can download your paper as an encrypted file to your computer.
It will show when your paper has been saved in WISEflow.

Select Download paper. Usually the internet connection will be reestablished after a short time, If that is not the case, you may hand in your downloaded, encrypted paper. Call the invigilators to get help with that.

The flow will end automatically when the exam is over, but you may submit your paper before that by selecting Go to submission. Call the invigilators to get help submitting your paper.

When the time is up, you can no longer work on your paper. Select Invigilation password and type the password published by the invigilators.

Select Submit my paper. Select Confirm to submit your paper.

When the submission receipt pops up on your screen, select Return to flow page.

Scroll down and select Request receipt to have a submission receipt sent to your student email.
