ITU teaching award

Recognizing outstanding teaching is essential to fostering a vibrant and ambitious university environment. When dedicated educators are acknowledged and valued, it not only strengthens their motivation but also elevates academic quality and creates a learning culture where curiosity, engagement, and critical thinking can flourish.

The ITU teaching award has been given yearly since 2020. The process, as well as criteria and decision processes, have been revised in 2026 with the aim of making the process more open, so that everyone can contribute with nominations.

Nomination process 2026

All ITU staff and students are invited to submit a nomination by 6 May 2026. The nomination must include:

  • Name of the person nominating
  • Name of the teacher or teaching group
  • Short description of how the nominee(s) fit the goal of the prize (2-3 sentences)

Submit your nomination here

What happens after the nomination?
During May and June, all proposals are reviewed by the relevant Subject Area Teams, who choose a maximum of one per study programme. The Board of Studies will review the proposals from SATs, and send a prioritized list to the award panel

When will the results be revealed?
The Award Panel is:

  • Rector
  • Head of Education
  • Board of Studies chair and vice-chair
  • Head of SAS

They will choose the final winner in the beginning of September 2026.

The award winner will be announced at ITU’s Annual Celebration in September.
