Residence Permit
As a Nordic citizen of Sweden, Norway, Finland or Iceland, you can freely enter and stay in Denmark indefinitely without having to get a residence permit for work or study.
Danish Social Security Number (CPR)
The CPR number is a personal 10-digit identity number. It is issued on a yellow health card, which entitles you to free healthcare in Denmark. The contact information of your assigned doctor will be on the yellow health card. Furthermore, you need your CPR number when dealing with authorities in Denmark.
If you stay in Denmark for more than 6 months, Danish law requires that you apply for a civil registration number (CPR). If your stay in Denmark is between 3 to 6 months, you are not required to obtain a CPR number, however, the CPR number will grant you access to different services as described above.
How to apply for a CPR number
Apply at the International House website. Once your application is approved, you will receive an e-mail with an invitation to collect your CPR number at one of the following locations.
