ITU Will be Closed Off Every Night to Save Energy
Written November 30, 2022 by Marlene Mee Ahrens
We are all amid an energy crisis and just like everyone else, we here at ITU need to conserve energy. Therefore, the Executive Management has decided that from November 30 both the building on Rued Langgaards Vej and on Emil Holms Kanal will be closed off every night at 22.00, and everyone still present will be asked to leave. ITU will reopen at 06.00 in the morning.
Only exception is on Fridays where the doors at Rued Langgaards Vej will remain open to allow for Scrollbar to run as usual. Canteen and cleaning staff plus staff from the IT Department and Facilities Management can also still enter the building outside the new opening hours.
University Director Georg Dam Steffensen says: “It has not been an easy decision to make. Open doors are an important part of the ITU spirit, but we do need to conserve energy, and this way we can minimize energy cost during the night without consequences for most students and staff. By closing off the building during nights, we can also keep Analog and Scrollbar running as usual”.
