16.00-16.20 A gentle introduction to hardware hacking
Speaker 1: Dmitry Janushkevich, F-Secure.
Dmitry started as a software engineer building a promising AAA title at an unknown game studio, and continued to be a firmware QA automation engineer and then a firmware developer. Despite that, he spent a lot of free time doing reverse engineering. All that equipped him well with knowledge and skills to start his infosec career almost 10 years ago. Now a senior consultant with the product security team at F-Secure Consulting, he provides advice on security topics to tier-1 automotive, aerospace, maritime, and industrial customers worldwide.

Summary:
There is no doubt that software plays a key role in the modern world, automating many tasks and making life easier for everyone. However, all software runs on top of some kind of hardware. In this talk, we are going to explore what "hacking" means for the world of computing hardware and talk about the problem of security within the context of physical devices running code, as well as suggest a way to approach the complex but nevertheless intriguing and fascinating quest of hacking hardware, illustrated step by step on two demo devices.

16.30-17.30 Hacking (live demo).
Speaker 2: Jacob Buchholz Bech, ITU.
Jacob Buchholz Bech is a student and teaching assistant at ITU. He was ranked 1st at the regional qualifications to the Danish Championships in Cybersecurity.

Summary:
A live-demo hacking session, showing how to explore debug interfaces, breake into a router and use the Bus Pirate platform to connect to debug ports on hardware.
Possible goals for an attacker: Backdooring firmware and Looking for vulnerabilities.
Possible harm: Developed 0days and Intercepting traffic.
Showcase steps:
Cracking open the casing.
Locating UART.
Using the bus pirate to communicate with device.

17.30-18.30 Socializing, sodas and snacks.
